HEYBURN BENNETT NEWS AND VIEWS – AUGUST 2022
Hello there.
It has been a very hot last few weeks and we hope you have managed to cope with the temperature. Our office does not have air-conditioning, so all the windows have been open and the fans on, but we have managed to survive!
The media apocalyptic messaging shows no signs of abating. If you no longer watch or listen to the news, don’t worry – you are not alone! The private sector, consisting of some 27 million people are the lifeblood of the economy and we are pleased that the feedback from you shows that hard work is being rewarded. We have to carry on – being distracted by the doom and gloom merchants will achieve nothing.
That said, there is still a lot of anxiety out there and we repeat our message of June when we say that it’s good to talk. If you have something on your mind don’t bottle it up. Talk to a loved one, a friend or a trusted colleague. They will be only too happy to listen and help.
You may be aware that the tax system for the self-employed and landlords is changing from April 2024. HMRC call it “Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment” (MTD for ITSA).
April 2024 sounds like a long time away, but in fact it is only 19 months. We have already communicated with our self-employed and landlord clients on this, but if you do require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
Hopefully we will have some more news to give you on the tax front when the new Prime Minister is in office and their plans made public.
In the meantime, stay busy, safe and well.
Mark, Dave and the team
